Blog!
The GIND mentioned the other day that she was thinking she should start a blog. Not because she thought she had anything pressing to say (few bloggers do), but because it would sort of complete the triumvirate formed with me and Toni. I wish she would, and I wish Toni would start blogging again. I've been talking to Toni quite a bit lately, but I also miss her blog.

I think I like the blog as something different from our conversations. Because it's a little picture into how she is when she's not talking to me. And also, she talks about stuff there that she wouldn't bring up with me, just because that's not the way we're friends. And I like to see that, but it's been almost two weeks since her last entry.

And the GIND and I haven't been conversing as we might. It's weird, we go through these periods of intense communication, and then I clam up for a while. I don't think I've talked to anyone I'm not working for in almost a week. Well, except for Wednesday.

Talk, talk, talk, talk, talk, talk, talk!
I meant to watch tapes tonight, and I didn't watch a single one. Well, I watched about 45 seconds of Starsky & Hutch (then figured out it was a two parter, and I didn't have time for part one) and a minute and a half of static that should have been Buffy and Angel.

Instead, I watched shows being broadcast and talked on the phone. I started by starting to watch B5, and then the GIND called. I'm gonna have to start taping B5, because this is the second or third time this week I've almost, but not quite watched B5. Not that I blame the GIND. I love the GIND, and I'd rather talk to her than watch B5. But if both can be accomplished, I'm all for that, too.

Then, I called my mother. Especially since there was nothing coming on at 8 I wanted to see. She had e-mailed me to say I should call home or send an e-mail. I think she has occasional random flashes of being one of those unfortunate parents on Law & Order, whose child is murdered and then Lenny Briscoe has to tell them all about their kid's secret life, and they didn't even realize the child was dead for several days. So, we talked. The basement is flooded, but she's not too displeased. She gets to throw away the stuff that got soaked, and she gets new carpet downstairs. I'm just glad I don't have to smell it. It's hard to dry the carpet out.

So, I hung up on my mother and started watching last season's Voager finale. Half-way through Toni called. It was good talking to her, although I didn't get the chance to bring up the fact that she hasn't updated her blog in half of forever, but that's okay. I adore her anyway.

Apparently there was a huge blow up on slash-writers about Real Person Slash. I missed some of it due to the mail situation. I'm now wading through the digests I did receive. I wonder if anyone has asked the question I've got. Not that I plan on being Matt & Trey when I grow up, but if the guys on South Park do it (well, not necessarily Real People Slash, but fictional disclaimed stories about Real People), is RPS more hurtful than that? Are South Park depictions inherently wrong? I find myself thinking that Real Person slash is only as harmful as South Park depictions, but I can accept that Trey & Matt are doing something morally wrong.

I find myself being ambivalent about Real Person Slash. I tend to dislike actor slash: I don't want actors to be upset about slash about their characters because they think we don't know the difference between them and their characters. (I don't really care if they dislike slash for other reasons i.e. religion, integrity of their artistic vision, homophobia, but I do want them to know that slash is not a precursor to scary stalking behavior.) But when it comes to people who are famous as "themselves", i.e. bad pop stars, news anchors, sports stars of the caliber they get invited to do celebrity endorsements, I tend to find that public persona up for grabs. So that RPS becomes not wrong, but icky. Like scat stories, I wouldn't want to read or write it, but I wouldn't dream of trying to discourage other people from enjoying.

Knock and see if you can get in:
If I were part of BuffyLog, this is what I would have written today:

Ditch the kid. She's not doing anything interesting. She's more boring/annoying than Riley, Adam, and Anya put together at their worst. (And I should mention that I like Anya, but that I can understand why others find her annoying.) Nobody likes their whiny younger sibling. Why should loyal Buffy fans be subjected to her?

Harmony was fabulous. Fabulously stupid. Fabulously stupid in a campy sort of way. The unicorns were great: she has this avaricious little girl instinct, even though she's a bloodsucking killer. I was a little confused as to why her gang was always in gangface, and she almost never was. Was it just Harmony never wanting to be ugly?

Tara and Willow were adorable. Still no suckyface, but there was an embrace ... a slightly lascivious embrace. And Tara and Willow had a very good relationship talk. It was so nice to see Tara and Willow being cool in their individual ways, and together. They're such a good couple.

I'm glad Giles is taking over the magic shop. He needs an independent agenda. Even being Buffy's Watcher isn't a purpose unto itself. And frankly, the Scooby gang makes a Watcher less than a requirement. He is a good person to have around, but Buffy could make it without him.

One last Buffywish: ditch the damn kid.

I missed Angel. I tried to tape it while watching ... Dark Angel. The tape messed up, but I'm pretty sure it was worth it. Think about what Buffy would be like if she never met a Watcher until she was 19, if the world had gone to hell in a handbasket, and there was no Scooby Gang. Also, if she were a Latina lesbian with a bar code across her neck. Dark Angel is definitely worth watching. See if you can't tape one Angel and watch the other, or better yet, trade tapes with a friend. You'll thank me; you'll see.

Look up!
Things are looking much improved. My temp agency called, very apologetic about the mix-up with times and address. It turned out I lost the book at the Archdiocese, not on the bus. They had it when I called, and if I hadn't called, they were going to take it to the library! I went to the library, and got loads of stuff, including an Anita Blake book I'd looked for several times and an Honor Harrington I wanted. Kick ass women rule! I had yuppie fast food for lunch. I love yuppie fast food! And the CSS book came. About the only bad thing that happened is I missed part of B5 tonight, my e-mail is still on the fritz, and I'm starving to death. Gonna get off the computer and remedy that right now.

Show your disgruntlement!
Read The Masters trilogy by Karla Meyerson this morning. It's a set of Quantum Leap zines that end with Al almost dead and Sam catatonic and their Master in a very bad head space.

Then I drank chocolate milk with Irish cream and nutmeg for comfort food. The Irish cream is disappearing at an alarming rate. I'm not drinking enough to get intoxicated, but I'm taking little nips at it every day. Maybe I'm not getting enough processed sugar? Would marshmallows cure my impending alcoholism? Also read some blogs in a weird attempt at comfort reading.

That only lasted for about two hours, and then I watched Medical Detectives on CourtTV for more comfort. I'm obviously out of touch with reality. Then I watched three eps of Wiseguy. Three or five. I don't remember. We're in the Profitt arc instead of the Steelgrave arc, and I miss Sonny. Sonny might kill you, but you'd have a good time first. Lococco or the Profits might kill you, and they'd enjoy themselves, but they wouldn't necessarily invite you to their party first.

The damn e-mail still doesn't work, and I have to leave for work at 6:45 tomorrow. I took this assignment thinking I could go at 7:30, but then it turned out to be in a different place and at a different time than I was told when I first considered it.

And I just had a miserable time at the grocery store, and I don't think I'll take lunch tomorrow anyway. I'll eat crap food at a nearby McDonald's instead, because washing fruit is beyond my strength at the moment.

Also, there's something seriously wrong with my computer. IE is just acting weird all the time and crashing my net connection a lot.

And there is no Stargate tonight, because of the fucking Olympics. In which I only got to see two rhythmic gymnastics routines, and the rhythmic gymnastics was the only part I wanted to watch. Fucking NBC.

who am i?

I call myself WitchQueen. I'm not a witch or pagan, and I'm not royalty. But I named myself on the SciFi bulletin board, and I've been that way ever since: a woman whose power lies in shaping her reality with words. I'm a polyamorous (yet single) young black lesbian living in Baltimore and I find that most of my social life revolves around the Net.

what do i do?

I'm a slash fan. I read and write slash, homoerotic stories about characters from television, movies, and other popular media. My current main fandom is Farscape, and my first real fandom was The X-Files. I dabble in a lot of other shows, particularly The Sentinel, Wiseguy, and Buffy the Vampire Slayer. I watch a lot of TV and tape a fair number of shows.

what's the triumvirate?

We three kings of Orient are....

*cough cough hack hack* Er, sorry, wrong trio. Toni was the first of us to get a blog. As I was going through a period of extreme Toniworship, I knew I had to get one, too. Often in my blog, I would mention the Girl I'm Not Dating (AKA the GIND), because I love her. In the meantime, she and Toni made independent contact. One day I mused aloud about her starting her own blog. Soon after that, she did. And so I (or the other two) may refer to ourselves as the triangle, the trio, and other various "three" words.
